Glazed Medals
And Badges.
When a client requests a design it is vectorized
(converted to line drawings) and a medal is designed
on the computer to the client's specifications.
Quite often there is a logo or wording that is too
fine, has too many colours, is full photo quality or
is not the same for each item, then it gets made
using a decal (vinyl sticker) instead of engraved
onto the mould.
Examples of these would include very small logos,
people's names, numbered medals or items, full
colour logos where there is no room for painting
borders and photos.
The medal intended for a decal gets designed with a
counter sunk panel where the decal will go. The
decal then gets designed in colour, custom fitted to
the panel and printed out on vinyl.
Once the medal has been finished off the decal gets
attached to the medal and glazed to protect it and
to give it a high gloss domed finish, which is water
proof and scratch resistant.
The same is done with school badges. For example the
rectangular HEADBOY, PREFECT badges. A blank badge
is designed with a panel and a decal is fitted onto
it and then glazed.
Our vinyl printers can print high-resolution
pictures at near photo quality (up to 2400 dpi).
Almost any logo or design can be designed and
printed.
We have many different colours of vinyl including
reflective gold and silver and we can also print
gold or silver onto a vinyl colour of any choice.
This works well for school badges or nameplates. The
use of these vinyl printers decreases the production
time for school badges, army badges and nameplates
whilst reducing the overall cost and errors.
